Q: What kind of exercise is Pilates?

Pilates is a method for whole body conditioning with mind-body approach. Gentle and safe Exercise activates the deep postural muscles and improve joints stability and mobility for the functional movement.
I currently offer classes based on the mat and the equipments. A wide range of exercises is available for all levels.
The pilates exercise is also effective in:
- raising body awareness and deepen understanding of the proper body movement,
- addressing inefficient movement or over-training,
- rebalancing the muscles,
- developing an internal support system which aids the proper function of the internal organs,
- serving as body conditioning or cross-training for athletes and dancers.
The creator of this exercise method, Joseph Pilates told his students,
『they would feel different after 10 sessions, see the difference after 20 sessions, and have an entirely new body after 30 sessions.』
Q: Why is it called “Pilates”? : Short History of Pilates.
In the 1920s a Fitness program devised to aid in the rehabilitation of the disabled and sick in the world war I. The man who developed this program was a German military nurse, Joseph Pilates. The expression “Pilates” comes from the name of the creator.
J. Pilates left for the United States after the War and set up his first Pilates studio in New York. The value of his exercise system was truly recognized by a varied and diverse people, especially the dance became keen followers.
J. Pilates dreamed of seeing his work embraced by the general people. He died in 1967 at the age of 83. After his death, his closest students continued teaching Pilates. Over the years different kinds of approaches to the practice of the pilates method have emerged. The training at Pilates Creation is based on the BASI Pilates standard. BASI Pilates aim to maintain the integrity and essence of J. Pilates’s work and use J. Pilates’s original repertoire while applying the modern scientific concepts and keep progressing each day.
Q: Do I need experience?
No, you don’t. You can start Pilates regardless of your age and fitness level.
A wide range of Pilates exercises is available for all levels.
Q: What should I wear to a Pilates class?
Please wear socks and comfortable clothes that allow you to move freely.
Q: What kinds of props are used in the Mat class?

We use a Pilates mat and if required the followings are used in the class.
Fitness band, Pilates ball, Swiss ball, cushions, Magic circle, dumbbells, foam roller and arc.
Please have your own Pilates mat ready if you choose to take a class at your home.
You may purchase the mat and other props from me.
Q: What are the benefits of exercising on the Pilates equipments?

We create mat work movement in space and often put a great focus on the abdominal work. In the equipment training we add the resistance to the movement while addressing whole body to function as one unit in a hurmony. It greatly helps to enhance your performance quality as well as improve your Body & Mind connection.
Q: How often should I take a class?
One class is usually 60 minutes long. Taking at least one class a week is recommended.
Q: Can I do Pilates during the pregnancy?
Yes, you can! I offer “Prenatal Private Class”. It gives you comfort, a feeling of well-being and confidence as well as providing a good preparation for delivery. Please check with your doctor or midwife to see whether you may take this class (Pilates für Schwangere). The presentation of the document is not necessary.

Q: When can I start Pilates after the child birth?
I offer “ Postnatal Private Class” as a recovery care and support you to return to various activities more smoothly. You can start taking this class from 6 weeks onward after a normal birth of child. Even if your progress after delivery of your child is favorable, please get your doctor's approval for taking this class. (Pilates für Postpartale). The presentation of the document is not necessary. If you had a c-section, please ask your doctor for guidance.
